Oberon

King of the Faeries from
A Midsummer Night's Dream
Approximately 19" seated, 31" if standing
one-of-a-kind

Oberon's head, hands and feet are sculpted of polymer clay. He has green glass eyes. His head-dress is of forest mushrooms is made of gathered materials, and polymer clay. As with the snail on Titania, the mushrooms on Oberon are sized to our reality, thus creating a visual distortion with the rest of the doll: If the mushrooms are sized to our world, is Oberon his actual size in faerie realm?

His costume is made of scraps of antique silk, braided satin, velvet, and linen that has been distressed and applied to the body in layers as an integral part of the sculpture. There's an overlay of cheese cloth hand dyed with natural pigments.

This figure is not free-standing and should be leaned against a surface for support.
