Work in Progress
Although the title of this section of the site is Works in Progress, it occurred to me on my hike today that Works in Process might even be more accurate. For when I begin work on a piece, I almost never have a clear destination in mind: each piece is not something I feel I am necessarily progressing towards, but rather processing through.
Of course one must begin with some ideas in mind; materials in hand - in my case, strips of wet paper dripping with home made flour paste. But the process of each piece, inevitably takes me down paths I thought I would never travel, and wind up in places, and with problems to resolve I never imagined I would have to face. So in the end the process makes the work, and what I complete has to do with the journey of each piece, and needless to say, the fund of skills that I have to work with at the moment.
My intent here is to show you the each piece in various states of process, so you have something to compare the finished piece to, and see where I began. As the pieces evolve, I will post photos that chart the process/progress in the various sections of the site. For example, if I am working on a mask, look for masks with the work in progress tag in the masks section.
