Sibyl
Sibyl is my version of a druid witch.
The figure is approximately twenty one inches tall. This piece has been constructed over a wire armature, with a cloth body. The face, arms and legs are polymer clay. Sibyl has brown, glass eyes.
In doing my research on legends that have accrued over the years about witches, I was surprised to find that instead of the commonly held belief that witches wear black, much of the literature suggests that their preferred colors are purple and red, and deep blue hues . So I dressed Sibyl accordingly. Her wardrobe is multi-layered in shades of purple, blue and red. Her glass bead necklaces reflect the same colors. To add a touch of black, I kept her hat the more traditional black velvet, with antique black lace coming down from it.
Of particular interest regarding this figure, is her satchel which contains a book of spells (which is an actual book I hand made and hand bound, that opens, and the text inside speaks of a revel in the forest), bones and other oddments are attached on the outside, they are also inside, including a forest creature of some sort peeking out.
She has a actual branch in her hand as a walking stick, and she is attached to a small round base covered in moss.
