Ganesha
Although I have titled this mask Ganesha, clearly it bears little resemblance to the classic images of the Indian deity.
My reason for the title is that the look and finish of the mask resembles a statue of Ganesha that my mother has. The statue is silver, with metalwork and beadwork on the surface. I have tried to emulate some of the same details for this mask.
As with almost all of my work, the base of this mask is paper mache as well; the handle is wood, and I have utilized metal and glass beads. The paint finish is metallic silver with a silver, mica overlay. The ball at the end of the handle shaft is covered in real German glass glitter.
