Medieval Harlequin
There is really no specifically historical reason I think of this mask as a "medieval harlequin", other than the fact that the finish of the mask looks very much like leather (the base material for the mask, as with all my masks, is paper mache here as well), which was a common material used for masks during the middle ages. I did not strive for a "leather look", it simply happened. Also the relief designs on the mask (again made of stamped paper clay), have a metallic finish. And it seems to me the combination of inset metal and leather was popular at the time.
This mask too is hand held: the handle is wood, painted with black enamel paint, and the finishing ball at the end of the handle is covered in real german glass glitter.
